Ashley was born and raised in Rochester, NY. Graduating from Webster Thomas in 2014, she immediately worked to achieve her goal of becoming an orthodontic assistant, which she became certified for in 2016, and later obtained her NYS dental assisting license. She still currently works for an orthodontist in Webster. It was through her passion of working with patients and being apart of their journey and transformation that she became inspired to pursue another passion she cares deeply about; beauty. Ashley has been in love with beauty and makeup for many years, and has always been the go-to girl for any and all beauty advice, tips, and makeup application. Upon discovering microblading she became certified in October 2017, and continues to stay in tune with the beauty community as she works to grow her business into a one-stop shop for all things beauty.
What is Microblading?
Microblading is semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing, different from permanent makeup because of its natural appearance upon healing. Pigment is manually deposited into the skin using a formation of needles specifically designed to allow your artist create fine, hair-like strokes to resemble the look of real hair. This procedure is also semi-permanent because it will last on average of 1-3 years (based on skin type) if no touch-up work or maintenance is performed.
Will your eyebrow hair be removed in place of microblading?
Absolutely not! Microblading will enhance what hair you already have to make your complete result look as natural as possible. It is meant to compliment your current brows or fill in areas that have suffered from over plucking or thinning within your eyebrows. However, it is also great to consider if a client suffers from alopecia areata or other conditions resulting in loss of hair completely.
Does microblading scar?
No. Microblading itself will not cause scarring. Scarring may only result from picking or pealing at your healing skin. It is extremely important to make sure our clients know not to pick at any scabs or flaking skin. This will also cause the client to lose pigment.
How much does microblading cost?
Initial appointments cost $300 with B3 Beauty. This includes two sessions, 6 weeks apart, in order to complete the procedure. Touch ups and color boosting sessions may range from $75-125 with B3 Beauty. Pricing is determined by time lapsed between most recent appointment and pigment retention.
What can I expect after a microblading procedure?
The healing process may vary from client to client based on several factors. This includes but is not limited to artist`s technique, pigments used, client compliance to recommended aftercare instructions, whether or not shading (powdering) was performed, skin type, and client`s skin reaction to the procedure.
Clients may expect a number of things such as:
How long does microblading last?
Depending on the type and condition of client`s skin, microblading will last anywhere from 1-3 years. Microblading does not last forever since pigment is only meant to be deposited within the first 3 layers of skin, which the body will naturally exfoliate (shed) over time. This process is also accelerated by sun exposure and skincare products that may increase exfoliation of the skin. Touch-ups will be required when pigment starts to noticeably fade.
Does microblading hurt?
Because you are numbed prior to the procedure, the level of pain experienced will be minimized, but some discomfort and irritation will occur. The feeling of the procedure could be compared to that of a "cat scratch" or "long tweeze" as described by clients who have experienced it. That being said, keep in mind that pain tolerance is specific to the individual, but there should never be a point where the pain becomes unbearable.
Who would be a good candidate to get microblading done?
Many factors decipher whether or not a person would be a good fit for the procedure. The most crucial factors would be the client`s skin condition and health, or any medications that would not permit invasive procedures to be done. If this may be a concern to you, do not hesitate to inquire for a full list of skin or medical complications that would prevent you from being a good candidate for the procedure.
If you have a desired shape/density/color in mind it is encouraged to bring photos with you as reference. You could also fill in your eyebrows as you normally would, giving us a guide to start with upon your arrival.
Any medications such as Aspirin, Niacin, Ibuprofen, and supplements/vitamins such as fish oil and Vitamin E should all be avoided for 72 hours minimum prior to your procedure. Alcohol consumption should be avoided 12 hours prior to your procedure as well, along with a limited caffeine intake.
*If you have used accutane to remedy acne, you must be free from treatment for a minimum of one year prior to considering this procedure.
It is suggested that you avoid sun tanning and tanning beds for up to one month before and after your procedure to eliminate any extra exfoliation of your skin. Newly tanned or burnt skin is considered unworkable, as the exfoliation process will distort or remove pigment that has been deposited into the skin.
It is not always guaranteed that previously tattooed brows can be covered or fixed. Factors such as pigment density and size of the tattoo may affect the workability of any previous procedures. It is necessary to submit a photo when booking an appointment or visit the salon so the technician can determine whether or not they can be re-worked. In some cases it may be recommended that cosmetic tattoo removal be required in order to provide a quality result.
What are eyelash extensions?
An eyelash extension procedure is an advanced technique that lengthens and thickens eyelashes through the application of faux mink or silk, single strand lashes that are bonded to your natural lashes. Eyelash extensions will add length, enhance the shape of the eye, and add density to your natural lashes.
How will they look and feel?
When applied by a skilled technician, they will look completely natural (unless a different look is desired), only much longer and fuller. They will feel and move like your natural lashes, and should be easily combed through without clumping or pulling.
How long will my eyelash extensions last?
When properly applied and cared for, your eyelash extensions will last 4-6 weeks. To maximize longevity, it is important to strictly follow any recommended home care instructions and schedule routine fills as your lashes naturally shed and grow.
What is a fill and how often should I get one?
After your initial set of eyelash extensions you will receive instructions on how to care for them, which includes routine fills to replace and add new lashes as old ones shed and grow out. Fills are done every 2-4 weeks; but is dependent among the skill and expertise of your eyelash technician, your normal hair growth cycle, use of cosmetics and skin care products, and compliance to the instructions for maintenance and care.
Why do I lose some of my eyelashes?
Due to the natural growth cycle of your lashes, you will find your natural eyelashes shed every 60-90 days as new ones grow in. For this reason, a fill every 2-4 weeks is recommended to accommodate the lashes new growth.
Can I use eyelash growth products with my extensions?
Lash growth products that contain steroids can change the composition of your lashes and accelerate your eyelash shedding cycle, therefore the outcome can not be guaranteed. Natural lash growth products containing peptides have not been known to have an adverse affect on the longevity of your extensions and are the best option to consider if you would like to use such products.
Will I still be able to or need to use mascara?
It is recommedned for the longevity of your lash extensions that no mascara is applied to them, however if it is preferred by the client, it is best to use water-based mascara and thoroughly cleanse them after use of such products.
Is it possible to have an allergic reaction from the products used during this procedure?
True allergic reactions do happen, but are rare. If you have developed an allergic reaction you may still wear extensions, but your technician will modify the products used during the procedure and/or products used for aftercare to accommodate the needs of the client. More commonly a client may experience an eye infection or irritation due to improperly washing or caring for their lashes. Improper cleansing of lashes is one of the main factors that could cause them to shed prematurely or improperly.
What would I do if I had an allergic reaction from the procedure?
In the event of an emergency such as an allergic reaction or extreme irritation, it is imperative to seek out medical attention first. In most cases, medical personnel will opt to remove or cut your lash extensions and treat the condition of your eyes. You will then be able to return to your lash technician to repair your lashes once your eyes have been treated and healed. If this happens, please provide documentation of the allergy or allergies discovered upon your emergency for your technician to review and keep on file for you. Please note the discovery of an allergy or reaction to certain products may disqualify you as a candidate to receive the particular service in the future for safety purposes.
It is best to eliminate unnecessary contact with water or steam within the first 48 hours. This is to ensure the bond between your lash extensions and natural lashes have enough time to properly set.
Be prepared to remove contact lenses before your procedure to avoid eye infection or damaging the integrity of your contact lenses. Wear or bring glasses if needed.
It is best to arrive to your appointment with freshly cleansed skin. Remove any makeup under your eye area and any mascara or eyeshadow if possible. At minimum, it is imperative to at least have clean eyelashes, with no residue from mascara or other makeup. This includes moisturizer, sunscreen, face oils, or any other skin care products.
